I became a vegetarian 15 years ago but this was definitely my favorite meat recipe. As a child my grandmother cooked a specific food for each day of the week. I remember sitting at the kitchen table for what seemed like hours while I watched my mother or grandma in their red aprons make this delicious cake. It is the cake I always ask for when I go home to visit. Read the recipe…

The smells of apples, cinnamon, and sour cream dough baking still conjure memories of family from my childhood. Read the recipe…

Her food was simple, but good and she didn’t often use written recipes, except when she baked. My brother and I would come running when she made us her delicious chocolate cake. The cake was what I think of now as a snack cake – she didn’t often put icing on it. It was our favorite.
